Yesterday I took my daughter to the Keystone Library Chess Club that I run. I was playing speed chess like a madman and my daughter seemed to have a good time. We had a really good turn-out and my old friend Ken showed up. He is an expert rated chessplayer and was on the German-American Chess Team that I was on back in the days of the Cleveland Industrial Chess League.
As we drove home I felt great. There is nothing like playing speed chess. I looked at my daughter and she at me. Finally she looked at me and said, "I never realized just how white and nerdy you are." I laughed. It's true. I was captain of my chess club in high school and was nicknamed Professor. What can I say? There are worse things.
In honor of her sudden awareness, here is a video by Weird Al Yankovic.
