Weddings and Chocolate Fountains

posted Saturday, 20 August 2005
Our good friend's daughter got married last Saturday and it was a blast. The wedding was beautiful and everything was the way it should be. Outside the church was a row of Ford Mustangs and the bride and groom peeled rubber when they left. They had a wonderful photographer but I took a couple myself just to catch anything missed.

After the wedding we went to TGIFs for lunch with friends from high school days that we haven't seen in years. I still think of us being young and their kids being kids. To know they are grandparents and when I go to their kids blogs and see adults I'm pleasantly surprised.

While we were eating it rained a little but nothing severe. We came out and saw a dark line in the sky. It was a serious front and we parted until the reception. We needed to wrap the gift we got the couple so we headed to the store when the storm hit. I can't remember when it rained so hard. We had to pull in the parking lot and sit for forty five minutes while the heavens spilled onto our car. My friend T-Bone sent me this pic from his street after the rain.

The rain was so bad that it flooded both the parents of the bride's basement and the newlywed's basement. Then the mustang they were driving drove through water so deep that the car stalled and water came in through the doors.

At the reception the newlyweds came in wearing life vests. The reception hall was decked out with beautiful flowers and everything was perfect. The food was great and they even had a large chocolate fountain that you could dip marshmallows, oreos (my favorite), pretzels, etc into.

The music was great and my daughter really got into the line dancing. I would have danced but when I dance it looks more like a zombie movie.

The groom is into comic books so I looked through my vast collection and tried hard to find a bunch that were hard to find. We added that to their wedding gift and I hope that he likes them.

Even with the rain I think the entire affair went off very well.
