This Old House

I was doing yardwork today when I noticed a couple people taking pictures of me.  Before I could lay down the rake a group formed and they all had cameras.  I knew my blog was getting noticed but this was incredible.

I walked over to them and a friendly older gentleman explained that they were taking pictures of my house.  His great-great- grandfather had owned and lived in the house in 1880.  He then produced a very old photograph from roughly 1900 of some very well dressed people standing in front of the house.  I was astonished.

The people with him were relatives from West Virginia up for a visit.  He had been looking for the house for a couple years and had just found it.

I love the picture and plan on getting together with him and scanning it (he's not computer literate).  When I get a copy I'll post it here.

I plan on doing a lot of work on this house over my summer vacation and will be using that photograph as a template.

It's funny, when I first saw them taking pictures, I worried that since I do so little work outside that I now attracted attention when I did.
