Old Time Music in Homerville

posted Saturday, 28 April 2007

Last night my father-in-law and I went to the Homerville Community Center for some old-time jamming.  Homerville is a very small town, making LaGrange look metropolitan.  I expected a small jam session and was surprised to find the parking lot full.  We walked in and found a band performing in the main room.  Stephen (my father-n-law) stayed and watched the band while I explored.  I found numerous rooms filled with musicians.

I walked around from room to room and made sure I introduced myself to everyone.  Each room had a different sound and in the halls were more people playing.

I sat in with one small group and sang a little harmony.  I was a little intimidated with all of the talent around so I didn't play my banjo or guitar.  I will next time.  I only knew one person when I got there but had many friends when I left.   Stephen and I will be going back soon.
