Obituary: Jack William Burgett

 Jack William Burgett

Jack William Burgett, 78, of New London, and formerly of Elyria, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at Fisher Titus Hospital in Norwalk after a short illness. He served with the United States Marine Corps from 1944-’46 and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Burgett was self-employed as a painter and a member of East Oberlin Community Church. Survivors include his sons John William of Reston, Va., Steve of Alaska and David of Garland, Texas; daughters Marjorie Lisle of Grafton, Cynthia Burgett of Pittsburgh, Pa., Amy S. Webber of Oberlin, Dawn Lebanik of Vermilion and Candace Martin of Decatur, Ind.; 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Sylvia Maddock of Elyria and a brother, Richard of Levannon, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (nee Hoffman); grandsons John Charles Burgett and Richard Lee Webber; parents, Leo and Marjorie (nee Miller); and brothers Lee, Russell, Douglas and James Burgett. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Westwood Cemetery, Oberlin. Cowling Funeral Home, 228 S. Main St., Oberlin is handling the arrangements.
