Jam in Lafayette

posted Friday, 11 May 2007
All of us contain Music & Truth, but most of us can't get it out.
- Mark Twain in Vienna

Tonight my father-in-law and I went down to Lafayette for a bluegrass jam.  Lafayette is a little south of Mallet Creek.  A couple of weeks ago I took him to Homerville for a similar kind of jam but this one was much bigger.

In Lafayette there is a large stage with a very nice sound system.  Each of the rooms had musicians playing Bluegrass and Old Time music.   I had a blast wandering from room to room.  I took a ton of pictures and sang every song that I knew and learned a bunch more.

Late in the evening my banjo instructor went on stage with some great players and after a few songs did a great frailing (clawhammer) version of Shady Grove.

I took a lot more pictures.  The quality isn't as good as I'd like as I didn't use a flash.  If you are interested you can check them out by going HERE
