I've received a bunch of emails asking why I haven't written anything this week.
The simple answer is heat, humidity and long hours. I've been working eleven and twelve hour days in this brutal heat. Plus the schools on my route (I have six plus the board of education) got all of their books this week. That means hundreds of heavy boxes. Fortunately my customers have come through with bottles of water and zip-lock bags of ice that are forced on me constantly. I have the best route in our center and I'm grateful.
Luckily storms are coming so the temperature will drop and I'll be feeling better soon.

In the meantime I ordered and received two banjo books that teach clawhammer (frailing) banjo.
Both are written by Patrick Costello. I bought a package that contained both books, a cd-rom and a set of banjo strings! I've read through both books and have to say these are the clearest instructional books I have ever read.
If you are interested in old time banjo click on either of the books and it will take you to the his site.
Once the weather breaks and I have a little energy I will actually play the banjo instead of just reading about it.
