Sometimes I forget I'm getting older. I live my life and nothing seems to change but everything is different. I drive around and see kids on skateboards using cell phones. I cleaned out my closet and found a jacket that I bought on my honeymoon in Cape Cod over twenty years ago.
The most surprising thing to me is when I notice that the way I think has changed. Back in the 1970's my favorite group was Roxy Music. I saw them in concert and have all of their cds. Every time I listen to Bryan Ferry I'm transported back to a time when things were simpler and yet so complex.
The other day I was given a DVD of
Roxy Music: Live at the Apollo and I eagerly put it on. It was so wonderful to see the band belting out songs like Mother of Pearl, Both Ends Burning and Love is the Drug. On one song young Go-Go Dancers came out wearing mini-skirts, white boots and danced to a song, then they were gone. I immediately started thinking, How much do they pay them to come out for one song? What are the logistics of having Go-Go Girls for one song from city to city? Do they bring them along or do they hire new ones in each city? What method of procurement does one use to find Go-Go Dancers? If you hire new ones in each city what about costuming, it must be a nightmare.
My wife saw me watching the video, shook her head and said, "I saw you looking at those Go-Go Dancers."
I'm glad she can't read my aging mind.
